Important Meeting Information
JETS meets on the second and fourth Fridays of each month.
What To Expect:
Here are some useful tips for guests and first-time visitors:
  • Arrive early because meetings start promptly at 6:30 pm. As a courtesy to all members
and to avoid disruption during speeches, please try to arrive about 10 minutes prior to
the meeting start time. Members usually arrive between five and fifteen minutes prior to
    the meeting.

  • Dress is casual so please be comfortable; some members come straight from the office
in business attire while others come in blue jeans.

  • Sign in by signing the guest book.

  • Get a copy of the meeting agenda and take a chance to review our brochures and
other Toastmaster literature. These are usually on the table beside the guest book.

  • Introduce yourself near the start of the meeting. Guests are usually asked to give a
brief introduction in whichever language they feel most comfortable. Don't worry, the
Toastmaster will simply ask you to stand up and tell everyone (1) your name, (2) how you
heard about the club, and (3) why you are interested in JETS.

  • Join members after the meeting during our famous "nijikai" after-party This is
usually held at a nearby restaurant, typically Chinese-style banquet that costs about $10
per person (not including alcohol). "Nijikai" is a lot of fun and provides an opportunity for
everyone to get know each other better.  Dinner is usually over by 10:00 PM or so.

  • Join the club! Had a good time? Then become a member! Toastmasters has helped
millions worldwide become confident speakers. Our club has been at it for 16 years in
two languages. That's twice the value of other clubs! Grab a membership form on your
way out and bring it back with you to the next meeting. We'll be happy to welcome you to
    our club!
